Melanie Phillips
My name is Melanie Phillips and I am a professional pet portrait artist, established for over 10 years. I specialise in highly detailed portraits of dogs and cats and accept commissions internationally.
I took art at both GCSE and A'level and went on to do an art foundation course and then a HND in Natural History Illustration. This enabled me to have a good grounding in drawing and painting wildlife, animals and flowers. Coloured Pencils are a delightfully versatile and vibrant medium. They are particularly suited to my style of working, as they enable me to give precise and accurate definition allowing me to create much detail within each portrait.

David Popple
I live in the outskirts of Leeds with my wife Lynne
and my two boys. I have no Art qualifications other
than an 'O' level from school and consider myself
still learning.
After leaving school I became an Electrical Engineer
and seemed to drift away from Art. Ten years later, after
watching John Blakey painting a portrait of Michael
York on TV, I was inspired enough to pick up Art
again, concentrating on portraits.
Originally I started with Faber Castell pencils
but I eventually discovered Karisma color pencils
which I find really versatile with an excellent
range of colours.
Because time dictates, my portraits are usually
drawn from photographs with only the occasional
one drawn from life, although I would like to include
more life drawing and variety of subject in future
projects. Email:
