Gayle Mason
My two main interests are my dogs and my art.
Together with my husband, I breed and show the Glenspey
Rough Collies.
I am a self taught artist specialising in pet portraits
and wildlife art. In my pet portraits I try to capture
that special something that makes each animal an
individual. I want the owner to feel they have a
permanent reminder of a moment in their pets life.
I have exhibited at several venues and some of my
work is available as Limited Edition Giclee Fine
Art prints.

Hannah Merson
I was born in Somerset in 1976 and am now working
full time as a Chartered Accountant. Other than
taking GCSE art I am completely self-taught and
have always drawn just for the love of it.
I started drawing in coloured pencil in early 2003
after coming across the UKCPS website and seeing
the wonderful pictures that it was possible to produce
with them. Up until that point I had only ever used
graphite pencils and hadn't given coloured pencil
a second thought. I immediately went out and bought
a box of Derwent Artist pencils and started a drawing
of a Tiger. It is now great to be able to incorporate
colours into my pictures as well as light.

Leah Moore
I live in Toxteth, Liverpool with my husband and
our cat. I loved art as a child, and pursued it
through A levels to a ‘foundation’ course.
I found the course to be more about producing ideas
than about teaching me techniques, or new materials.
As a result, I gave up art and did other A levels,
and then a degree in English.
It is only recently that I have begun drawing again,
inspired for the most part by the huge community
on the ‘Wet Canvas’ online forum. I
have discovered an aptitude for drawing animals,
which I have been practising ever since.
I have been using Derwent coloured pencils. I am
gradually increasing my range of materials and subjects
but coloured pencil will always be my favourite
because it is clean, portable and versatile. I do
most of my work from photographs, but enjoy life
drawing too. I have recently contributed some coloured
pencil illustrations of quite a macabre nature to
‘The End Is Nigh’ #1, due out in May
sometime.
