I grew up with a pencil in my hand and was always
encouraged by my parents to paint and draw, which
I did with a passion. I went on to study 'Commercial
Art' at the Johannesburg School of Art, and started
on a career in graphics, leaving painting behind.
I rediscovered my love for drawing and painting
about 7 years ago, after the death of my husband,
and looking for something to fill my time I bought
some coloured pencils and started drawing the animals
and birds which inspired me so much. Having grown
up in South Africa I have a great love for African
wildlife. I love the control and the detail which
can be achieved with coloured pencils. I accept
commissions for pet portraits (or anything else
to do with animals) and am working towards exhibiting
my own work in the future. Website:www.bevs-animal-portraits.co.uk

At age 17, a well meaning relative had given
me an 80 box set of Caran D'ache pencils as
a birthday present, at the time I remember thinking
that a pair of socks would have been preferable!
The pencils were duly filed in the "wait for
a discreet length of time before disposal drawer"
and there they stayed .For reasons beyond memory
I opened that tin of pencils, started drawing and
have not looked back since. Currently I am a member
of the UKCPS and was fortunate enough to win the
Caran D'ache 2002 exhibition award and last year
as an associate member of the SGFA won the Stabilo
2001 exhibition prize. I have had numerous
private commissions and have also managed to
convince a couple of very doubtful gallery
owners that there IS a market
for cp work!

Richard Lovesey
I was born and raised in Lincolnshire's inspirational
rural landscape where I still live today with my
wife Jo, and our three children.
My interest in art began when I attempted to capture
Lincolnshire's rich aviation heritage in a series
of graphite aircraft drawings. Having never drawn
seriously before, I was pleasantly surprised to
discover that I possessed a talent for it.
During 1999, I began to experiment with colour.
I have mastered my own unique approach and technique
through practical experience, using only the finest
quality colour pencils from Derwent, Faber-Castell
and Caran d'Ache.
The majority of my commissioned work takes the form
of portraits. Children and pets are by far the most
popular requests, although I like to consider almost
any subject. E-mail: enquiries@loveseyfineart.com Website: www.loveseyfineart.com
